Scheduled event 31

To-Gather-Thon

Lately I've been feeling like this FC is a little bit disjointed.  We don't really seem to come together like I would love to have us do.  The Pathfinders are a family, and families need to spend time together to recharge and to connect.  This event will hopefully bring us closer together, so that we can start feeling like family again.

In this event we will be getting into groups to gather specific items for the FC.  It will cover all the gathering classes AS WELL AS dungeons!  That's right people!  Dungeoners will be heading into the fray for the good of the company.  I'm emphasizing party gathering, so no going out on your own unless you're the only one online!  Grab a buddy and get to getting!

This event will take place on Friday, December 4th at 4pm PT/6pm CT/7pm ET until Sunday, December 13th at 4pm PT/6pm CT/7pm ET.

That's right folks!  This is going to be a nice, long event.  I hope you enjoy!

Ginal's Weekly Mix #2

Ginal's Weekly Mix #1

Happy Tuesday, Pathfinders!  (And sorry for the late post >.> )  Ginal here with another Weekly Mix of FFXIV content creators, trivia and random goodies!

Weekly FFXIV Content Creator Highlight: Very Merri

Looking for some laughs as you crawl those dungeons?  Very Merri's up and coming channel has some definite laugh out loud videos, including:

Merri's Shorts:  Short videos that are half in character and half not, depicting the trials and tribulations of life in Eorzea.

Man Mode:  Merri and his friends form all warrior parties, hit the dungeons, and yammer on in giberish to each other.

Random Sweetness: Gaming Wildlife

The Gaming Wildlife Foundation is pretty much what it sounds like: What happens when you cross National Geographic with gaming?  The result is ridiculously funny channel that examines the different types of gamers in the natural environments.  I'm a Lore Whore (shocking, I know) what kind of gamer are you?

They also feature a series called If They Were 100% Honest, in which the Gaming Wildlife crew speak plain and brutal truths about our favorite, or most hated, game developers and publishers.

Where Did That Come From?

Just a reminder that the trivia here is NOT being copy/pasted right from some wikia.  I'm describing only what I know, the way I remember it when I played these games.  If I turn out to be inaccurate somehow, feel free to remind me and I'll fix it in the following post.

The Holy Lance, purchasable from the Revenant's Toll Poetics vendors, comes from Final Fantasy IV.  In its original context, it was one of several legendary weapons that had been sealed away, and could be obtained after defeating a difficult optional boss monster.  Equipped by dragoon Kain Highwind, not only did the Holy Lance deliver solid damage with each strike, but it could also be used to cast a base-damage version of the spell Holy.  While this version of the spell wouldn't use any attributes to modify its damage, it could still land a decent hit if the monster was weak again holy elemental magic.

FFXIV Cribs!

FFXIV Cribs Filming

As you all know we submitted our lovely home to be featured on FFXIV Cribs and they responded.  We had the interview, and we just got a response back from them about when they will be filming the episode.  If you want to be in the video please make sure you're there at the time stated, and behave!  We want to make a good impression, so put your best foot forward and lets show the world how awesome our FC is!

Filming will take place on Friday, November 20th at 4pm PT/6pm CT/7pm ET.

I hope to see you all there!

Ginal's Weekly Mix #1

Ginal's Weekly Mix #1

Happy Tuesday, Pathfinders!  Ginal here with a new weekly post I'll be trying out.  In my Weekly Mix I'll be highlighting Final Fantasy XIV content creators, explaining FF series references found in FFXIV, and maybe even pointing you all toward something cool I've found.

Weekly FFXIV Content Creator Highlight: Mizztek

If you find yourself struggling with any given Primal, dungeon, raid or other major duty, Mizztek's MTQCapture channel is probably the best spot to turn to.  She understands what each tank, healer and damage player need to focus on at any given moment, doesn't stray from what's relevant to the video, and usually has a few silly puns to introduce you to the fight.  (And for you fellas, her voice is very easy on the ears) With Mizztek as your party leader, you'll never be without those sweet tomestones again!

Random Sweetness: OverClocked ReMix

Founded in 1999, the wonderful folks of OCRemix have been on a mission to preserve and promote the often under appreciated music of our favorite video games by banding together to produce some absolutely amazing rerecordings and remixes.  Their home site has thousands of tracks from games of all eras and genres, and even over 30 full, professional quality albums.  And I'm not kidding when I say that some of these people's remixes have turned out even better than the original music we love so much.

Their YouTube channel is already linked in the subheading.  You can find their home site right here.

Where Did That Come From?

Just a little clarification, the trivia here is NOT being copy/pasted right from some wikia.  I'm describing only what I know, the way I remember it when I played these games.  If I turn out to be inaccurate somehow, feel free to remind me and I'll fix it in the following post.

Materia comes from Final Fantasy VII.  In its original form, it not only offered attribute bonuses, but was also the source of all character magic and abilities.  From FFVII's lore, Materia was knowledge and memories of the ancient Cetra race crystalized inside Lifestream energy, creating small orbs that were easily set into weapons and armor.

Mansion Fundraiser

Announcing the Pathfinders Mansion Fundraiser!

With patch 3.1 upon us comes a list of new features added to housing, among being a system to reclaim plots unused by their owners.  This is the perfect time for our company to pool our money and purchase ourselves a large house, and we're asking you, our members, to help us.

Why would we need a large house?  Is it really worth the trouble?  There are multiple reasons for us to upgrade, among them:

All Crafting Benches: We have most of these already, it's true, but our current home doesn't allow for all crafting benches.  I know many of us love to level our crafting classes, and future members will too.  With all crafting benches at our disposal, everyone will be able to benefit from them for any crafting class they want to level.

More Garden Plots: Gardening gives us fruit to dye chocobos, along with rare minions and crafting materials.  We can keep these for our own uses or sell them for a tidy profit.  Either way, more space for more gardening means more for all of us to benefit from.

More Vendor NPCs: A large house will also let us set additional vendor NPCs, letting us have all the various mendors and vendors available for our needs all day, every day.

More Room for Role Paying and Events: Part of the dream we had when founding this FC was to have a group more unusual than most.  Instead of just grinding dungeons all day, we also wanted to be a company that promoted role playing and various other events.  More space in our company house will give us more room to fully achieve these goals.  A bigger and better bar, or maybe a stage for fashion contests.  These are the things possible with more space.

A Prestigious Image: Let's face it, no matter how awesome our group is (and it is, because of all of you!) the bigger the house, the better we look to the world.  We already have the best damn people you could meet in our company.  Each and every one of you who have stuck with us have proven that it was never a mistake to invite you in, and you deserve to be represented to the rest of Eorzea with the best house possible.

Group Achievement: Beyond building airships and aetherial wheel stands together, raising the money necessary to buy a large plot is no small task.  We're not the most hardcore players.  We don't have our server's market economy dominated.  Building up this much gil will be an uphill fight, which is exactly why we should do it.  If we can pull this off, then we will have really done something as a group that we can be proud of.

You Do Not Have to Donate!

It's important to let you all know that you do not need to donate.  You will not be harassed into it.  You will not be excluded from any future events or activities.  You will not be treated badly.  We understand that not everyone has the time to make large amounts of gil, or that some players are saving up for their own goals.  You do not have to worry about having a place with the Pathfinders if you don't donate.

How Much Do We Need?

Housing plots are priced based off size, availability, and for how long they are empty before purchase.  With the high demand for housing already insane, and large houses starting high, we're estimating that we'll need 60 million gil.  If this turns out to be too much, the remaining money will be spent on furnishings, gear and materials for FC members, and supplies for gardening.  This money will not be kept for any individual's personal gain, and that is a promise to our members.

We're currently sitting at 17 million.  Let's hit the markets and make this happen!
