Weekly FFXIV Content Creator Highlight: Limit Break Radio
Honestly, I've got mixed feelings about these guys. On the one hand, they do discuss topics important to the community as honestly and openly as they can, and they invite people to call in and join the conversation. This can lead to some great idea exchanges. On the other hand, the guys who host the show can get really hostile with each other, and they cuss a lot, which can distract from the quality of the conversation. Still, these guys can be worth listening to, so look them up.
Random Sweetness: Space Hamster
A friend of PeanutButter Gamer, and fairly similar to the same style, Space hamster is wonderfully awkward and a seriously funny guy.
Random Sweetness: SF Debris
A sarcastic and snarky science fiction reviewer, on the internet? How unusual!
Seriously though, I love this guy's work. He's as honest as he can be that his videos are only his opinion and never fact, which is a great plus, and he also tries to dig up as much behind the scenes information as he can to contextualize the shows he's commenting on.
My favorite of his videos are his Star Trek reviews, and in particular his commentaries on the Voyager series. The Psycho Janeway character parody has me rolling every time.
Where Did That Come From?
Just a reminder that the trivia here is NOT being copy/pasted right from some wikia. I'm describing only what I know, the way I remember it when I played these games. If I turn out to be inaccurate somehow, feel free to remind me and I'll fix it in the following post.
Doma, where Lady Yugiri and her ninjas come from, originates in FF6. In FF6, Doma is a small nation-state of samurai tradition, which valiantly survived many Imperial invasions until their water supply was poisoned, killing most of the citizens of their nation.
The right side is the original Doma Castle map, the left is a recreation within Minecraft.
The Baron earrings and Baron circlet given to players as pre-order bonuses for buying Heavensward comes form FF4. These were worn by Cecil Harvey after he ascends to a Paladin.
The letter that Square sent to players with these items, referring to "when two was four and four was two" is a joking reference to how FF4 was originally re-titled as FF2 on the first American release. This was because at the time, the original and real FF2 and FF3 had not been released in the states, and Square was a afraid that western players would be confused by a sudden leap from FF1 to FF4.
