Ginal's Weekly Mix #3
Happy Tuesday, Pathfinders! Ginal here with another Weekly Mix of FFXIV content creators, trivia and random goodies!
Weekly FFXIV Content Creator Highlight: Soric Reisa
I'm not just featuring him because he came to show our home off to the world! Soric and his lady Theia run this up and coming channel that most certainly deserves our attention.
The bread and butter of Soric's channel is his XIV Cribs, which is a really awesome show to binge on and get ideas for our own homes and rooms.
Wild Hunt is a new series Soric is trying out where he's playing a "Crocodile Hunter" type of character running around and checking out the Eorzean wildlife.
XIV Universe is the show that brought me to his channel, where Soric highlights community events, FC achievements and fan art. Unfortunately, this show doesn't seem to have taken off very well, so do me a favor and hop over to his channel to give him some encouragement on continuing this series.

Random Sweetness: Jillian Aversa
It's amazing the things you'll stumble upon while browsing YouTube. This member of the OverClocked ReMix community has her own side project on YouTube producing music videos of themes from games and some other sources.
Jillian herself writes the orchestral arrangements of the music along with handling the amazing vocals. The costuming, makeup and props on display are also top notch. I'm not the type to encourage things like Patreon support lightly, but this gal definitely deserves your consideration.

Where Did That Come From?
Just a reminder that the trivia here is NOT being copy/pasted right from some wikia. I'm describing only what I know, the way I remember it when I played these games. If I turn out to be inaccurate somehow, feel free to remind me and I'll fix it in the following post.
The Gambler's Outfit reward from the Manderville Gold Saucer is an homage to Setzer Gabiani of FFVI.
Artwork by Yoshitaka Amano
Setzer was the world's wealthiest and most notorious professional gambler, and the only man in the world to have a privately owned airship, the Blackjack. Though initially a bit of a narcissist, Setzer eventually becomes an invaluable member of the party, using things like magicked dice and playing cards to bring the pain to his enemies.
Let me make this as clear as I can: Nobuo Uematsu is the most gifted and accomplished writer, producer and composer of music in video games the entire world has, and likely ever will know. This man is responsible for some of the most iconic music we've ever heard, and I defy you to listen to his compositions and come away unmoved.
Alright, I'll stop gushing.
Seriously though, Uematsu is an amazing musical talent, and his career has been beyond prolific. He personally wrote the entire soundtrack for the first nine Final Fantasy titles, co-wrote FFX and Chrono Trigger, formed his metal band The Black Mages, and has since been responsible for some truly remarkable Final Fantasy themes in recent games.
These days, Uematsu no longer works as a Square Employee, now operating his own studio Smile Please, where he composes for Mistwalker Studios, and contracts out to Square Enix.
To this day, there are more live orchestral concerts celebrating the music of Final Fantasy than there are concerts dedicated to other video games combined, and Uematsu himself makes occasional appearances as a performer or guest conductor.
Links to some of his most noteworthy pieces:
Answers: FFXIV
Dragonsong: FFXIV
One Winged Angel: FFVII (as performed by the Prima Vista Philharmonic Orchestra and the Black Mages--the keyboardist/organist is Uematsu)
Rydia: FFIV (from the FFIV Celtic Moon special rearranged album)
Victory Fanfare: FFX
